Crazy Weekend...

So this weekend was just crazy. Especially Saturday. We had baby dedication in the morning at 11am (sorry no pics... no surprise tho hehe!!) then I had a class at 12:30pm (sewing..I got a sewing machine last christmas but have yet to open the box.) We had a birthday party at 4pm then finally dinner with family at 6:30pm. I was so tired at the end of the day.. On sunday we had family and friends over for Linda's birthday and Father's day.

Alyssa had so much fun at the party. She was so sad that we had to leave early to meet Paul's family for dinner.

This thomas the train ride is the best thing ever. She was on this thing a good 30 minutes. Good thing no one was waiting for a turn. =D Isn't this cupcake soo cute.Here's Alyssa leaving the party. Choo Choo...All Aboard

Many of you guys may know, the kids and I were up in Seattle for about 6 weeks. We had so much fun up there. Alyssa got to spend alot of time with her cousin Gerrard. Every morning she would say Gerrards house? Gerrard park? Gerrard?? haha!! It was all about Gerrard when we were up there.

One of her favorite things lately are train rides. So after googling train rides in seattle I finally found a place in Bothell. It was a cute little village. The kids had a blast playing at the playground, riding the train a few times around, and they had one of the best toy stores ever. Not sure if I would go back, but definitely worth going once. =D

I can't believe Brady is already 9months old. Just last week I couldn't believe I had to put a deposit down for Brady's Dohl. Where does the time go?? I swear just a few weeks ago he was barely starting to crawl. Now he's pulling himself up and trying to cruise. (still hasn't mastered how to get down after pulling himself up)

Hmm.. I don't even know where to begin. This blogging thing is a lot harder then I thought it would be. I always seem to have time to read everyone else's blog but can't get myself to update mine. It probably doesn't help that Paul keeps commenting on how (horrible) I write. =D What can I say.. i'm just not a writer. I'm going to try really hard this time to keep up with this, even if it's just posting pictures. Maybe if I keep up with this blogging I will somehow become a better writer?? (Yeah right.. )

So, if anyone is out there.. come back and check the blog once in awhile. I'll be updating it more frequently then before. =)

Seaworld

Yupp.. that's our hotel!! We're off to Turks and Caicos for one week. Can't wait to have good fun with family and friends. (Ahns, Chos, Kangs, Saesims and Shims) Relaxing, sending the kids to daycamp, eating, watersports, diving, spa and just plain old fun for 7 full days!!! Here we come!

FEM*A & Other Life Lessons

In case y'all were wondering where we were this last weekend, Fo and I did pretty much the most spontaneous thing we've done collectively as a couple. (I know what you're thinking...we're pretty much the epitomy of spontaneity already, practically combusting during our spur-of-the-moment trips to Home Depot and Triple B aka Bed, Bath and Beyond...).

Anyways, back to this weekend, we decided on Thursday to head up to Portland to hang out with my sis - Son, my BOL - Kev, my all-grown-up-going-to-school-it's-almost-time-when-his-head-will-finally-be-in-proportion-to-the-rest-of-his-body nephew - Caleb, and my mini-me-my-daugther-is-almost-her-size-and-she's-two-years-younger-cutest-thing-to-ever-walk-the-earth-next-to-Alyssa niece - Casey! Honestly, my fondest memories in life have been just hanging out with the fam in the Northwest, so to say we were looking forward to this weekend would probably be an understatement...

Now, I understand you don't read this to listen to any of my ramblings, so on to the picture show that was our weekend...

Life Lesson #1 - FEM*A

There is one life truth that one must remember above all, even above happy wife = happy life and don't ever leave the toilet seat up... Force Equals Mass * Acceleration. My Casey bear unfortunately learned this message the hard way.

We were just hanging out at Portland church (where apparently almost every family in the whole church is protesting China's One Child law by having 6 kids each), watching the kids on various wheel based instruments (e.g. rollerblades, skateboards, bikes, scooters, etc..). It was almost like a druken Nascar event, with little blurs heading every which way as far as the eye could see. Along comes Casey, meandering along, when a kid comes around the corner on a bike at Mach 2 and bowls into her! Now, usually, one throws their arms out in an effort to break their fall. Alas, Casey has yet to learn this critical lesson, choosing to stop her fall with her forehead. The aftermath is:

Life Lesson #2 - Don't Send Girls Shopping Alone

Using the con of "You guys stay home and watch football while we go out shopping" to spend some "quality" time together, Fo and Son embarked on Sunday to go shopping. Usually, I expect Fo to come back from her trips with little bobbles from her expedition. However, this time, she got SangMi a $42 coat that was made out of recycled 2-liter Coke bottles or something?!? Apparently, Son and Fo are double-handedly trying their darndest to keep our economy afloat during these rough times. That being said, SangMi is pretty damn cute in the coat, if I do so say so myself...

Life Lesson #3 - There Really Is Nothing Better Than Hangin' Out with Family...

She survived 100 Days!!

June 11th was Alyssa's 100th day. On Sunday (father's day) we had a nice little dinner for her. I can't believe how time has flown by. It feels like it was just yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital. She was so tiny, I didn't know what to do with her. Oh how she's grown. She's a chubby little one. You wouldn't have known she was only 5lbs 5oz when she was born.

Wow.. SHe's so yellow (how did we not know then??)It's so fun being around her right now. She's starting to smile and 'talk' a little more each day. I can't imagine my life without her. I lOve you Alyssa. Happy 100th day!!

Hi Guys... Sorry I haven't updated this blog in a LONG time. I like to say I've been quite busy. Not really haha!! But so much time has gone by I thought I'd just give you guys a quick (or long) photo update. Hope you guys enjoy.

Here's a picture of Kaiser. This is where Alyssa was born. We were here for her 2 month check-up. (She gets her first set of shots today)

Here she is naked. We needed to measure her and weigh her. I think she weighed 12lbs and was about 19.5 inches long. She's growing up so quickly.This is the nurse giving her the oral vaccine along with the childrens tylenol.She loved it.. haha!! (Miss Piggy)Now here are the other vaccines. OUCH!! She didn't like these all too much.

I think it was four shots.. How cruel.. =(Then we were done.. She did fine.. =)

Isn't her butt so cute.. (be aware the next picture is a little disgusting)Who knew this could come out of such a cute little thing.. (isn't this the biggest poop you've ever seen?)

Darn it.. I should have bought this onsie.. haha!! =)

So after Alyssa's 2 month check-up and an okay from her doctor Alyssa and I headed up to Seattle for two weeks. My extended family hadn't had a chance to meet her and Paul was working so much I thought it was the perfect time to go up. The plane tickets were super cheap as well. I can't remember the last time I paid $79 each way. We took Virgin America. (I vowed never to take Alaska Airlines again. They SUCk!!) Here are a few pictures from the plane. I had the entire row to myself. Doesn't she look so comfortable.. This is her first time on a plane. Just me and her. ( SOn I don't understand how you do it with TWO kids.. It was hard enough with just one) Alyssa did really well on the plane. She slept the entire flight. The luggage was teh hardest part. I had her stroller, car seat, carry on bag and two suitcases. I had her in the baby bjorn then placed one smaller suitcase and carseat in the stroller. So I was carrying Alyssa and my carry on bag, pushing the stroller with the carseat and smaller suitcase, and pulling the larger suitcase... Won't do that again if I don't have to.. =)Doesn't the plane look so 'pretty'?You get your own tv screen. THere was a Top CHef marathon going on. (how funny.. this particular episode was when they had to make dishes for planes.)You can even watch music videos, play games, chat with other people on the plane and they even have international channels. How crazy is that. You even order your drinks from the screen.I won't fly any other airline when flying up to Seattle.

Unfortunately I didn't really take any pictures up in Seattle. I only have a few pictures when I was down in Portland.

( I don't think it'll ever happen) This picture was taken on the I-90 bridge. I think it's considered Mercer Island. Bill Gates home is on the right side of the bridge. Not quite close to the bridge though. A women can dream right??While I was up in Seattle it just happened to be our One Year Wedding Anniversay!! How romantic huh.. haha!! Can't believe that it's already been a year. This year has been so eventfull. We bought a house, a car, and had kid. (everything I wanted haha!! poor paul)

Family Visit

Congratulations Tommy and Deanna. He's so adorable. A little hairy but so cute.. =) Man I forgot how far Loma Linda was. Especially from Porter Ranch. Alyssa did really well in the car.. but on the way back she was a little fussy and I was trying my hardest to stay awake.. Didn't notice how tired I was. (Paul had to go to North Carolina for work for a few days)

Earth Day

Today was Earth Day.... I was never really much of a GREEN person, actually I'm still not. I really should work on that. Well this morning while watching the news I saw that the Grove was throwing something for Earth Day so I decided to call up Esther and see if she wanted to go to it. If it ends up being boring we can just shop.

Well this was the only thing going on at the GROVE... BOring, so we just ended up eating at the Farmer's Markets and just walked around.

Aren't these the cutest onesies?? They were 25 bucks each... a little too much for my wallet, but I did get a good laugh. =)

I asked Paul to go out and buy a tub for Alyssa. He came back with this whale tub. I asked him what this whale cut-out thingy was for. His response was, it's a sponge for Alyssa when you give her a bath. I just started laughing.. Are you serious.. this big thing is a sponge?? You got to be kidding me.. He said the box said it was for a sponge bath.. I could not stop laughing.. did he really think it was an actual sponge to use to wash Alyssa?? haha!! I had to explain to him that that sponge bath probably means that we place her on the whale while giving her a sponge bath the first few weeks after she's born.. We both had a good laugh.. =)

Finally... a tub

Okay.. so I didn't use the actual tub.. but the thing that comes with the tub is pretty cool. I found that it works best in the sink. She just sits on it while I give her a bath. She loves it.. =)

Look at her thighs.... they got so big. I think she's around 10lbs now.. she pretty much doubled her weight from birth.. (is this normal.. or are we feeding her too much)

Poor Alyssa and her baby acne... =( when will this go away!!
I placed her on her tummy for the first time. I was a little scared but she actually did okay. She even turned her head to the other side on her own. I think she sleeps better this way.

When she sleeps this way I don't need to swaddle her, and now that it's soo hot in our room it works out for the better.

She's growing up so quickly.

Baby Celebration LA

On Sunday Alyssa and I headed to a Baby Celebration expo they had at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Yes, just me and the baby. Paul was off getting a massage. On my way there I thought, okay this isn't bad. I can do this on my own. But once I got there Alyssa just started to get fussy. She was hot, hungry and her diaper needed to be changed. It took me about an hour after I got to the convention center to actually head in to the Baby Celebration Hall. (I would have never noticed this before but they didn't have a baby changing station in the bathroom. I had to change her in the stroller...and ofcourse she she pooped)

Once we were in, it actually was pretty easy. She was now comfortable, full, and had a clean diaper. As I walked in, one of the first booths I stopped at was a baby carrier booth called Cat Bird Baby. The concept was like what our parents used to use to carry us with when we were babies. The big blanket looking things with the long straps to wrap around yourself and under the butt of the baby. (not sure if I explained that well) I asked the ladies if I could 'test' it out. So during my visit I was carrying Alyssa in this carrier. It was quite comfortable so ofcourse I bought one.

I actually got suckered into buying another carrier called the Moby Wrap. (Yes another baby carrier...not to mention I have a Baby Bjorn at home that Son got me) Its a huge piece of cloth you wrap around your upper body. When I tried it yesterday at the convention I thought it was nice. Really comfortable.. but now that I tried it at home today by myself.. it's kinda hard to put on.. haha!!
The real reason I went was to buy a sling.. but instead I walked out with 2 carriers...Now Paul wishes he went with me.. =)

Happy Birthday!!

Today is Paul's 29th birthday. Can't believe he's 29 years old. This year has been a big year for him, and it's only April. We bought a house, had a kid, and bought a car. Wow... he needs to be working double time ahah!!

We had a few friends over Saturday night for Paul and PJ's birthday. I tried doing a crab boil. It turned out okay I guess. I think it works better with fewer people, but I'm sure everyone got enough crab because the next morning when I was cleaning I found a whole crab sitting in my kitchen. (It was cooked ofcourse) The backyard smelled like Redondo once we were finished.

We didn't have enough chairs so everyone had to stand and eat.
After everyone ate a few people stayed for a game of poker. Tommy ended up taking out Paul and Jason ended up taking out PJ. Jason got 1st, Tommy got 2nd, and PJ got 3rd.

1 Month Old today!!

Yea!! She's made it.. ahah!! or should I say we made it.. =)

Can't believe she's already a month old. If you think about it she should only be about a week old if she was born on her original delivery date. She's grown so much in just a month. She was so tiny when she was born 5lbs 5oz. A few days after we brought her home we found out that we weren't feeding her enough. We were only feeding her around 20ml every 3 hours. (that's not even an ounce) We later found out we should be feeding her around 40-60ml each feeding (around 2ounces) again OOPS!! There's so many things you need to know... It does get a little overwhelming and the internet becomes your best friend. But in the end it all works out.

She's doing really well and eating lots and lots.. She's getting the chubby cheeks and her thighs are filling in. =)

That was her in about a five minute time frame. She loves making faces. We love ou Alyssa... Like the koreans tell me have them small but raise them big... We're trying. =)

Does anyone know when we should take her out of our room and into her own room??? Some people suggest we move her now...Isn't it a little early??

Since Alyssa is a bit tiny none of the millions of clothes I bought or got for gifts fit her. The only outfit that really fits is this gymboree one that Sonia bought for her and these Nike socks my cousin got.

Paul calls her my "live" doll. He says I just want to dress her. =) It's partially true.. little infant clothes are soo cute.. Can't wait for her to fit 0-3 months. She's still in up to 7 lbs clothes..

1st Bath

So a little over a week ago Alyssa's belly button thingy feel off, so she had her first bath a few days later. This was the first time Paul and I ever did this. Uhh.. so when I started washing her I started with her bottom and worked my way up. Once I got to her head I realized.. hmm.. maybe I should have started with face and head first then work my way down.. OOPS!!

What do you guys think of the "kimchi" bucket. haha!! Paul was like.. what is this bucket, I can't believe we're giving a baby girl a bath in something you make kimchi in. He wants me to go out and buy an infant bath tub. =)

Meet the cousins...

Son and the kids came down to California to visit for a few weeks. We were suppose to have our baby shower the same weekend they were coming down but because Alyssa was born a little early we had to cancel at the last minute.

We may not have had the baby shower but the kids got to meet their cousin Alyssa so it kinda turned out for the better.

Alyssa has another cousin in Seattle she hasn't met yet. Cousin Gerrard. He's my brothers first child.

On March 4, 2008 at around 10:30am Jaeger was barking non-stop. I walked downstairs to yell and him and while I was chasing him I thought I felt my 'water' break. I immediately went back upstairs to the bathroom. I was thinking.... It can't be I'm about 4 weeks early. I also wanted to go to this car seat safety class with Esther that day and on top of that we weren't ready. I hadn't even had my Baby Shower yet. I called Esther and Paul to let them know that I think my water broke. Esther was calm as was I because I wasn't quite sure what was going on. I may have been in denial. On the other hand Paul he was a wreck. =) He was telling me to go to the hospital right away, calling me every two minutes.

Everyone tells me it takes some time after your water breaks to actually go into labor so I was taking my time. I thought if this is really happening I had to get some things together. I wanted to take a shower so I jumped into the shower. I also needed to pack my bag for the hospital in the case I was going to have her today. I was really contemplating on just going to the car safety class and then head over to the hospital afterwards because I thought even if my water broke I would have plenty of time. But as I was packing my bag I noticed that I was 'leaking' even more. So at this point with Paul calling me every few minutes telling me to go the hospital to get checked out and the leaking being more frequent I thought I should head over to Kaiser and see what was going on.

I left my house at around 11:30am and arrived at Kaiser a little before noon. I headed upstairs to labor and delivery. I had called them while I was driving there just to ask them if I should come in so they knew I was on my way. Once I got there I told them what was going on and I felt a little silly since I wasn't due until March 30th. I thought all of this was to quick and I was just imagining things and getting anxious about the whole process. Well the nurses made me change into a gown and hooked me up to some machines to monitor what was going on. They asked me if I was having any contractions and I had said no because I didn't feel anything. Well after she had finished hooking me up to the machines she told me that I was definately having contractions. She said she would call the midwife so that she can check to see how far I was dialated. I was hanging out for about 45 minutes in the hospital watching TV meanwhile Paul keeps calling to ask for updates. He wanted to leave work and come to the hospital when I first called him that morning but he had a meeting and I wasn't even sure what was going on so I told him to just wait and stay at work until I was sure. Well around 1:00pm the midwife came in and checked me and said Oh...you're 6cm. At that point I was nervous. Didn't know what to do. I couldn't believe I was having this baby today. So immediatly I called Paul to let him know he should leave now. ahah!! (ofcourse he said.. WHAT!! how could that be.. you didn't even feel anything??)

So Paul and Esther actually got to the hospital almost around the same time. I was just laying down on the bed watching TV and talking with them. I still didn't feel anything. I didn't know I was having contractions but kept looking at the monitor to see when the contractions were happening. At around 2:30-3:00pm I started to feel a little pain. I wasn't sure if I was just thinking it was pain because they kept saying I was having contractions and maybe I thought I should be feeling something. Well just a few minutes after I started feeling this slight pain it started to increase pretty quickly and I started to feel a 'pooping' sensation. I asked the nurse if I could sit on the toilet and she suggested that I sit on a birthing ball or walk around the halls. I said NO!! I was in no shape to get up and walk around. I just said I wanted to sit on the toliet. So she said that she would get the midwife again to see how far along I was at this point. She came in and said okay you're 10cm. By that point I was freaking out. Oh my I'm going to have this baby now.

At 4:04pm Alyssa Ahn was born. She was 5lbs 5oz and 18.5 inches long.

I think I pushed for about an hour or maybe an hour and a half. I couldn't believe what was going on. This wasn't how everyone said it would be. I thought I wouldn't be having her atleast until the next day. I was lucky that I didn't have to take any narcotics or have an epidural. I was worried about that. I didn't want the narcotics because I've never taken any before and didn't know if I would be allergic to them and I didn't want the epidural because I was AFRAID of that big needle.

We were in the hospital for two days and left Thursday afternoon. Thank you to those who visited and for all of the lovely flowers.

She had to be admitted in the Hospital overnight a few days later because of Jaundice. But she's doing fine now.
